Connecting Personal Healing, Social Repair and Tikkun Olam
נעים מאוד, שמי לימור רובין, את הארון החברתי הקמתי בשנת 2021 יחד עם משפחתי וחבורת מתנדבות מופלאות. המיזם פועל בביתנו הפרטי במודיעין.
Nice to meet you. I'm Limor Rubin. In 2021, together with my family and an extraordinary group of volunteers, I founded The Social Closet in Modi'in — a community initiative that operates out of our family home.
התחלנו בקטן, מתוך אחריות סביבתית וחברתית: לצמצם את כמויות הטקסטיל המוטמנות באדמה, ולקדם כלכלה מעגלית וצדק חלוקתי. אספנו תרומות ביגוד, מיינו אותן, העברנו חבילות למי שזקוק.ה, קיימנו ירידים במחירים סמליים או ללא עלות, והקמנו קרן קהילתית.
We started small, driven by a sense of environmental and social responsibility: reducing textile waste, promoting a circular economy, and advancing social equity. We collected donated clothing, sorted and redistributed it, prepared personalized clothing packages for people in need, held community fairs where clothes were offered for free or at symbolic prices, and established a community fund.
בדרך נולדו קהילה, אירועי תרבות ורוח, תמיכה במיזמי הנצחה ויזמות מתקנת, ומרחב שיודע בשעת חירום להפוך גם לחמ״ל — כפי שקרה ב־7 באוקטובר.
Along the way, something bigger emerged: a community. The Closet became a home for cultural and spiritual gatherings, a source of support for commemorative initiatives and restorative ventures, and a space capable of transforming, in times of emergency, into a community crisis-response hub — as it did following October 7, 2023.
החיים של כולנו השתנו, וגם המיזם השתנה. הפכנו ממיזם אימפקט קהילתי למרחב נשמה מרפא. הפעלנו אירועי חוסן וריפוי, תמכנו במשפחות החטופים ובמשפחות המגויסות למלחמה, והחלטנו להקדיש את רווחי המיזם למיזמי הנצחה ולמיזמים שנולדו מתוך הטראומה.
ראינו כמה העשייה הטובה בארון משפיעה עלינו, מרפאת אותנו.
October 7 changed all of our lives — and with it, the meaning and purpose of the Closet.
All of our lives changed — and so did the venture. We became not just a community impact venture, but a healing space for the soul. We held gatherings focused on resilience and restoration, supported families of hostages and reservists, and decided to dedicate the proceeds from our activities to commemorative initiatives and restorative entrepreneurship born out of trauma.
And in the midst of all this, we discovered something profound: the good we do through the Closet doesn't only affect the people and communities around us. It changes us, too. Doing good is itself a path to healing.

Out of that experience grew our model: Healing by Doing - healing the soul
by repairing the world.
הארון הוא המעבדה החיה שלנו לרעיון הזה. הוא ממשיך להתפתח ולגדול, ומתוכו צומחת כעת הקרן הקהילתית שתיקרא: קרן מקום (חל״צ) — בית להשקעות חברתיות בהנצחה ויזמות מתקנת.
The Social Closet is our living laboratory for this idea. A place where we continue to learn, experiment, evolve, and grow.
And now, something new is growing out of it: Keren Makom, our nonprofit community fund — a home for social investment in commemorative and restorative entrepreneurship.
